Grand View Photographs

On the edge. When you gaze into the distance it is almost as if you are looking at a picture rather than the real world. Why are we so seemingly small but can take in so much of God's creation? Perhaps one of these views touches you more than others. Let me know!

Marble Canyon Evening

The Colorado River courses toward the Grand Canyon.

Cinder Cone View

View from an extinct volcanic rim onto the isolated pine trees and mounds below.

Little Painted Desert

The best time to view the layers of color in badlands is after rain, or in this case after a snowmelt. At the ends of the days, the golden light brings life to these colorful formations.

Totem Silhouette

The Totem Pole is a sacred location to the Navajo. You can understand why when experiencing sunrise here.

Morning View

It can be difficult to convey the entire experience of watching a sunrise at such a special location. Here I have combined two images to share the experience of fire in the sky from the sunrise along with the first light touching the rocks along the cliff's edge.

Fairyland

A village of fairies lives below the rim at Bryce Canyon. This image looks fantastic printed large.

Cliffside Morning

Watching the early morning light arrive on the cliff above the badlands of Utah is awe inspiring.

Solitude Canyon

This is Hopi land. There is a certain reverence that overcomes you as you compose shots across this special landscape.

Chocolate Falls

Grand Falls runs full when spring snow runoff is heavy from the White Mountains. During most of the year the falls is just a cliff. Downstream, however, the Little Colorado River is spring fed, so there is always some water running into the Colorado River from this tributary.

Monument Valley

An early morning view over the dunes to the buttes of Monument Valley Tribal Park.

Valley Road

A country road winds its way through the wheat fields of the Palouse in eastern Washington.

Factory Blue

Our eye is drawn to the dominant 40 foot tall rock near the center of this view of Factory Butte in Utah.

Time Tested

Does a landscape need to be smooth and unblemished to be admired? When we see the beauty of erosion on the badlands, we better understand how age can make us more attractive as well.
