I am making increasing efforts to record the Grand Canyon in my style. As I do this, there are new discoveries, new light, new weather and even new dangers. But a few feet from the edge is about as close as I am willing to get. If you are a photographer interested in a Grand Canyon workshop please contact me.

It seems that I am making increasing efforts to record the Grand Canyon in my style. As I do this, there are new discoveries, new light, new weather and even new dangers. This is an absolutely thrilling experience. But a few feet from the edge is about as close as I am willing to get. If you are a photographer interested in a Grand Canyon workshop please contact me.

The Way and the Light

The remains of a recent snowfall introduce us to the sunlit walls of Sumner Butte and Zoroaster Temple.

The Heavens Opened

The heavens opened and I saw what I had never seen before. The light clearly came from another place and reached into my soul.

Isis Temple

In Egyptian mythology, Isis was revered as the divine mother and goddess of fertility, magic and protection. There are theories that the ancients before the Puebloans built structures inside the Temple of Isis at the Grand Canyon. It is basically off limits to exploration, so we just have to enjoy images for now.

River Runs Deep.

We often see the beauty of a scene without regard to its history or future. The rivers has cut deep into the canyon, providing a history of the earth through the layers of sandstone.

Penetration

I was treated to an afternoon of amazing light chasing along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It seemed that as soon as magic light disappeared in one location it would appear in another. This was a day of good choices. Here, the arced walls below Sumner Butte are flooded with light from the lowering sun as it penetrates a rapidly moving storm.

The Tempest

The power of the storm is highlighted by good...the sun shining through the rain. While the rain can yield healthier life, it must be tempered by an even greater amount of sunshine.

The Fury

We all have storms in our lives. As storms pass, light gradually returns. we are stronger and closer to Him.

Desert View

A dark cloud passes over the Grand Canyon at the end of the day.

The Last Hoo Ra

A storm sweeps over the Colorado River beyond Pima View along the rim of the Grand Canyon.

Canyon Sweep

Clouds hang over the west end of the Grand Canyon as morning light creates a glow in the heavy air.

Pinyon Point

This tree pinyon pine has its personal ledge far above the Colorado River. I was able to catch it just before sunset.

Deep Thinking

Looking down into the Grand Canyon from Yavapai Point in misty conditions.

The Living Edge

A stubby pinyon pine survives quite well on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Grand Canyon.

Sunwashed

Sitting at the edge of the Grand Canyon can be a spiritual experience as you absorb the view, the light and the meaning of life. In this scene, rays from above reach into the depth of America's grandest wonder.

Colorado Swing

This horseshoe bend is not the one most tourists see. It is always thrilling to find yourself alone in a remote location.

Lipan Point

Crepuscular rays (God rays) shine down on the Colorado River below Lipan Point.

Westward Hole

Clouds part in the west to reveal the colorful sandstone walls of the Grand Canyon.

On Edge

Following a frightful night of rain and wind on the edge of the Grand Canyon I was greeted by wonderful clouds and light at this seldom visited location.

Moran's Honor

Thomas Moran is known for his western art that attracted many from the eastern states to venture westward to see the beauty of the land. Moran Point is nearby this location on the rim of the Grand Canyon.
