PALOUSE SHED

Some pictures tell stories better than others. In Palouse Shed it is easy to see that this farmland has been worked for years. The light on the distant field emphasizes its current importance over that of the shed. While the shed is clearly past its prime (perhaps just in now its prime photographically), the fields beyond are still fertile.  Fall is coming and the reaper has done its job. The soil will be tilled, then planted again...and again and again as new crops feed the hungry. The reaper will come for us all in time. Hopefully, we have provided fields that will yield productive crops through our offspring and those we have influenced.

Palouse Shed

"The earth belongs to the living. No man can, by natural right, oblige the lands he occupied or the persons who succeed him in that occupation, to the payment of debts contracted by him. For if he could, he might, during his own life, eat up the use of the lands for several generations to come, and then the lands would belong to the dead, and not to the living. No generation can contract debts greater than may be paid during the course of its own existence." Thomas Jefferson

SEEING HALOS?

There are lots of tasks to complete before posting or printing an image. Making sure they are free of distracting dust spots and other blemishes is on that list. Seeing spots on your photos, especially after they are printed is not fun! It is especially not fun if you discover a spot just as you are hanging a piece in a gallery or delivering a “finished” print to a client. This article covers the common spot issues and what to do about them.  READ MORE...

Barbara and I finish up our roadtrip to the interior Northwest early in the month. We will be in Yellowstone the first of the month. I will be in east Texas for Mood of the Swamp workshops beginning late October. This will be the first year in a few that we have missed fall colors in Colorado in favor of fall colors elsewhere.
