COMPOSITION 101A - WHAT IS YOUR SUBJECT?

Fine Art Photograph

This may seem like a pretty dumb question. But it can be really confusing. You may be taking a landscape photo where you think the subject is the entire scene. Or it could be the barn at the top of the hill. Or a fox in the bushes. But in reality, the subject is the bright part of the waterfall, the door of the barn or the fox’s eyes. Your subject is where... READ MORE...

GOODBYE SUN

The results paid off as I returned to a favorite spot that doesn't get photographed very often. This is bound to be one of my most popular Grand Canyon images and presents extremely well in these sizes. These are signed, limited edition prints. I will honor a reduced price for larger prints also, so please contact me if you are interested. This print is part of the Print of the Month Club offerings so individual purchases are limited to current availability.

July Trips and Exhibits:

In 2019 I took a picture titled Monsoon Enough. It is still a favorite since it caught just about all the monsoon storm we had in Prescott that year. This past month has been something quite different. Too many clouds, lots of rain, but never enough for all of our Southwest reservoirs.. Catching lightning has been a bit of a challenge, but there will be more opportunities in August as the monsoons look like they are continuing. I will certainly get back to the Grand Canyon, Sedona and perhaps a few more select spots around Arizona. At the end of the month we travel to California, with some time planned along the coast.

My first art fair experience happens August 6 and 7 at the Prescott Fine Arts & Wine Festival at the Courthouse Square. Of course, some of my newer work will be displayed, including a 30"x45" print mounted to acrylic that was the photographic winner of the MAG Art of Movement contest. Hope you can make it by!

On Saturday, August 13 I am leading a Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photowalk in downtown Prescott. The event raises interest in photography, builds relationships with other photographers and raises money for an orphanage in Kenya.
